On New Years Day, 1999, at the age of 88, New Hampshire's Granny D began a walk across the United States, from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., with a simple sign on her chest: CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM.
And on June 30, 1999, at a time when few in Washington would even utter the word "corruption," John McCain helped launch his New Hampshire campaign for President by acknowledging to the citizens of Bedford that campaign money "corrupts our political ideals."
It is hard to imagine two more different people. But these two different souls were united on this one common cause: To change the way campaigns are funded, so as to change this “system of corruption."
We are New Hampshire Rebellion, Rootstrikers, and Demand Progress.
