I’mPOSSIBLE: New global education programme promoting
To celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is showing the next generation that ‘impossible’ is just a word through a pioneering new global education programme – I’mPOSSIBLE.
The programme aims to spread the values and the vision of the Paralympic Movement to young people throughout the world. Created by the IPC’s development arm, the Agitos Foundation, the programme’s name highlights the fact that with courage and determination, Paralympians continue to redefine what is possible, frequently achieving the unexpected.
I’mPOSSIBLE provides interactive teaching resources for girls and boys aged 6-12 years with easy-to-use lesson plans, worksheets and inspirational videos.
Using inspirational Para athletes’ stories, I’mPOSSIBLE aims to:
1. inspire and excite young people and demonstrate that with determination, courage and inspiration they can, like the Para athletes, achieve anything they put their minds to in their lives.
2. challenge perceptions and attitudes towards people with an impairment, thereby helping to increase inclusion through Para sport.
The global education programme ultimately stems from the vision of the IPC which is ‘to enable Para athletes to achieve sporting excellence and inspire and excite the world.’
The Agitos Foundation is the leading global organisation for developing Para sport as a tool for changing lives and contributing to an inclusive society for all. We are the development arm of International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and take our name from the Paralympic Symbol, the Agitos, which is derived from the Latin verb “to move”.
