Corporations Are Not People!

Contrary to popular belief, we are not a self-governing people in the United States. The promise of democracy of, by, and for the people has given way to oligarchic rule by a wealthy few and their corporations. Over a century of Supreme Court decisions culminating in 2010's Citizens United ruling has recognized transnational corporations as people with constitutional rights. The result of these rulings has given wealthy owners overwhelming power over the political system through their ability and willingness to spend large amounts of money to influence who runs for office, who is elected and which issues will be discussed. With the most-expensive election in US history resulting in a celebrity billionaire with no political experience becoming president, the power of this oligarchy is all but certain to grow under a Trump presidency.

We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Citizens United and other related cases, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights! Over 400,000 people have joined our movement calling for a 28th Amendment, and we need your help to grow it even larger.

Join us in the social media campaign to reach 500,000 Americans for the We the People Amendment. Encourage your friends to join our campaign and sign the Motion to Amend today!

@MoveToAmend

Move to Amend is a national coalition of hundreds of organizations and hundreds of thousands of individuals committed to social and economic justice, ending corporate rule, and building a vibrant democracy that is genuinely accountable to the people, not corporate interests. We are calling for an amendment to the US Constitution to unequivocally state that inherent and inalienable rights belong to human beings, not corporations, and that money is not a form of protected free speech under the First Amendment and can be regulated in political campaigns.
