As we were entering the ingress of the 50th year of independence, our country was going through a revolution, a revolution for the growth of the nation. One of the most exemplary leaders of our world believed that in every country's life a generation has to sacrifice their lives so that coming generation can have a better one. We believe that it is our generation that needs to bear the torch of change, and in order to formulate that energy, we need to have a mission.
Azad Bharat Rail Yatra
The power of a nation rests with the youth of that country, and undoubtedly, India has the largest youth population in the world at the moment. A journey to experience the real India was flagged off in the year 1997. Over 600 yatris(comprising of the youth of India, both males and females) joined us for this first journey of exploration, of real India, that ended after a period of 18 days.

If Azad Bharat Rail Yatra was all about exploring the real India, the rural areas, or the areas where there was a need of development, or the change-makers dedicating their lives for the country's development, in the year 2008, the journey was ensued with a vision to build India through enterprise. A journey that focussed on the section, where the majority of India resides, the middle India. Keeping youth and women empowerment as the core focus, the yatra has so far completed its 9 years, providing an invigorating ecosystem to over 1000+ enterprises, who have nurtured themselves, and grown to impact over 2 million people across the tier 2 and tier 3 districts of India. Last 9 years have acquainted us with the wonders of our country, which we would never have experienced if we didn't get on this yatra.
"This generation is going to look at the new paradigm that the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, left behind. If at that time Satyagraha was a tool, and Swatantra was a mission, today we believe that Udyamita or enterprise is the new tool and country's development is the new mission and this has to happen in the smaller towns and villages far beyond the metros that we have looked at for far too long. We started Jagriti Yatra, with the same vision, with Enterprising as our tool, and Building India through it, as our mission." - Shashank Mani Tripathi, Non-executive chairman, Jagriti Yatra.
"It did not change my boat, it changed my destination." - Gobinda Dalai, Yatri 2011
"Yatra was the turning point for me, in my life. I don't think I would have taken the courage to walk on the path of entrepreneurship if it wasn't for the yatra." - Dr Mukesh Panwar, Yatri 2015
"It's not just about exploring India, for me, it was more of a self-exploration journey. Introspection, and procrastination when found the intersection, was the moment for me, when I decided to take that plunge of helping my community, which earlier was just a point of concern for me." - Kuldeep Dantewadia, Yatri 2009
There are many more such stories, from yatra, where not only the lives of yatris have changed, but also the people of their communities have been impacted. Pooja Shahi, who got her first breakthrough yatra, use to struggle for market connect, now she has reached a point, where she is providing employment to over 15 women from her village. Priyanka Khandelwal, trains women from villages near Pune, and over the years, she has enabled to an extent where these ladies are now able to earn the bread for their families, and few have even started their enterprises so that they can send their children to school. Experience the yatra, to learn plethora of these stories, directly from the horse's mouth.
Over the years, Jagriti Yatra has found various meanings for everyone and has become a strongly bonded family of over 4000 entrepreneurs or change-makers, who are leaving their marks, not only in India but across various corners of the globe.
