The Safe to Sleep®
campaign focuses on ways that parents, caregivers, and health care providers can
reduce baby’s risk of SIDS and other sleep-related causes of infant death.
In the 20 years since
the campaign started, SIDS rates in the United States have dropped by more than 50%.
remains the leading cause of death for U.S. infants between 1 month and 1 year
of age. Other sleep-related causes of infant death, such as accidental suffocation,
are claiming babies’ lives as well. About 3,400 infants die of SIDS and other
sleep-related causes of infant death each year.
The good news is,
there are ways to reduce risk. But we need your help to spread the word!
