You played a MAJOR role in the Chicago Teachers Union fight, and we thank you.November 2, 2016
As they listened to the World Series on the radio, more than 50 Chicago Teachers Union district supervisors, members of the Rules & Elections Committee, and rank and file volunteers worked into the night last night tallying votes from across the city. As the night wore on, it became clear that a majority of the votes were coming in "yes" in favor of ratifying the tentative agreement between the CTU and the Chicago Board of Education.
The Board will undoubtedly vote to confirm the contract at its meeting on December 7, 2016. So from here, the CTU House of Delegates will meet tonight and make plans about how to implement and enforce this contract. Union field representatives, organizers and the entire CTU staff will put our strongest effort behind protecting our classrooms and our students—as we have always done, and as we will always do.As this chapter of the fight for the schools our students and our members deserve comes to a close, we thank you for your unwavering on- and offline support, and for remaining united, strong and powerful in the defense of public education. We have a ways to go, but we are on the right path, and we want you there with us every step of the way.
