We honor our fallen military by caring for those they loved and left behind. Every year, hundreds of men and women die while serving in our Armed Forces. They leave behind mothers and fathers, wives and husbands, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, and many other loved ones who will grieve their deaths. It takes on average 5-7 years for those grieving a traumatic loss to reach a “new normal.”

Thankfully – they don’t have to do it alone. The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) offers comfort and care to these military families who have given so much for all of us, by offering Good Grief Camps for children, grief seminars and retreats for adults, casework assistance, connections to community-based care and grief counseling, peer-based emotional support, online support groups and retreat programs, and a 24/7 resource and information helpline for all those grieving the death of a loved one in military service to America.

When the Pentagon was attacked by terrorists in 2001, TAPS assisted grieving families. When the Global War on Terror began in Afghanistan and Iraq, TAPS was there to assist thousands of newly-bereaved military families. When suicide began taking the lives of our service members and veterans in increasing numbers, TAPS expanded programs to help their families. When the Navy Yard was attacked by a gunman, TAPS was there to assist their families. TAPS will always be there for the families.

You can salute  the two decades of service TAPS has given to military families who have sacrificed so much for all of us, by lending your social media status and/or making a donation to help more military families.  TAPS has helped more than 44,000 people grieving a military death and their caregivers since 1994.
