Families with disabled children are at breaking point because they need better support. Tell Michael Gove to do something now - #GoveUsABreak!
This Monday MPs will debate the Children and Families Bill in Parliament. We urgently need to tell the Government they must do more for disabled children and their families.
Take part in our Thunderclap and help spread the message through to Michael Gove MP (Secretary of State for Education).
We know parents are at breaking point.
“When is someone actually going to address my son’s needs? Why is everything such a battle? I never would have believed it could be this horrendous - and just to get the most basic things.”
More than half a million families in the UK face a daily challenge to get support for their disabled child. The current lack of local services and respite care makes it much harder than it needs to be. Nearly two-thirds of parents can't get the services they need in their local area and are fighting tough long battles to find them elsewhere.
“There must be more flexibility, honesty and understanding in the system. I feel like it’s 100% corrupt. The main concern was never my son’s needs, but cost. The whole process was entirely based around money. It’s unbelievable and frightening.”
This is the biggest chance to improve support for disabled children in 30 years. Let’s use it!
Scope’s Keep Us Close campaign has already sent over 20,000 messages to the Government, but we must not give up. Together, we can tell the Government that there is no time for excuses, families need support now.
Please help spread the word on Monday, and join our Thunderclap now.
