Peace Corps Turns 55

Every March we commemorate President Kennedy's establishment of the Peace Corps in 1961 with an entire week devoted to honoring the work of Peace Corps Volunteers and the people that support them. That's 55 years of service!

Peace Corps Week this year is Highlighting Happiness and showcasing what joy and celebration looks like in the countries served. Help us celebrate with a Thunderclap heard round the world on March 1, Peace Corps' birthday!

HOW TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT:

  1. At the top of the page, join the campaign via Twitter, Tumblr, or Facebook.
  2. Spread the word to your friends and followers and ask them to sign up as well.
  3. On March 1 watch as social media lights up with Peace Corps Week celebrations around the world!

  • Nearly there!

    February 24, 2016
Thanks so much for all your support. We have 6 days left to spread the word and have other people join in. We've already beaten our social reach from last year, but we are still 100 people away from beating our number of supporters from last year. Call on your friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, friendly bus drivers, and teachers to join in the fun!
(it doesn't count if they like or share your posts; they must join themselves)

  • Two Weeks to Go

    February 16, 2016
Thanks so much for all your support! Just two weeks to go, and we are 100 followers away from our goal. Please invite your friends to join the Thunderclap!
  • Halfway there!

    February 10, 2016
Great news! We are over halfway to our goal of 500. Keep on spreading the word and make sure your followers join the Thunderclap instead of just liking and sharing your posts. Check out all the great things going on for Peace Corps Week too at http://1.usa.gov/1ALECz2
