This campaign ended on January 13 at 12PM
25 years ago, Lithuanian citizens stood up to the Soviet military to defend the independence that Lithuania had declared on March 11, 1990. Thus they have defended their freedom, their future and the future of democracy in the world.
January 13, 1991, was a tragic and fateful night to Lithuania and to the
World. Lithuanians went unarmed, but with the feelings of the heart and
strength from their belief that this was the only way to fight for Freedom, for
a world where no nations are humiliated.
This day gives us an opportunity to celebrate the bravery of the unarmed people and their determination to defend their country, to protect their children and future generations, freedom of expression and democracy.
Join us and demonstrate your own conviction that this sacrifice was meaningful. Show your gratitude by paying homage to all the victims of January 13, and to those who bravely stood up for our freedom by supporting the social media initiative "NeverForget 13/01/1991".
What you can do: Click "Support with Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr". On 13 January at 12:00 noon, watch as everyone’s messages “Today we honour those who fought for freedom 25 years ago – NeverForget 13/01/1991” are shared at once!
