May12th is International ME/CFS Awareness Day, and we're asking all Australian patients and loved ones to help us spread awareness on 12th May 2017.
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) - commonly referred to as ME/CFS in Australia - are debilitating illnesses affecting up to an estimated 240,000 Australians, and a staggering 17 million worldwide. Funding is minimal, the illness is often trivialised in the media and by medical practitioners, and so much more needs to be done to support sufferers.
SHOW YOUR SUPPORT
Below are just a few easy ways you can support ME/CFS awareness:
Join our Thunderclap: Join our efforts to promote May12th Awareness Day by joining our Thunderclap on May12th, and invite your friends and family to do the same.
Participate in a virtual #MillionsMissing: #MEAction Network Australia have a virtual #MillionsMissing campaign running, where you can #putoutyourshoes to represent the millions of Australians and patients around the world who are missing from their lives due to ME/CFS.
Become an advocate: ME/CFS awareness continues in the week of May12th, as well as the month of May and throughout the year, so if you miss May12th you can still participate in advocacy and raising awareness anytime of the year.
