Vote for SELC!

The Sustainable Economies Law Center is a people-powered organization, sustained by generous and dedicated supporters like you. Help SELC win $20,000 by taking one minute to sign up for Thunderclap so that we can amplify our message to get out the vote!

By signing up with Thunderclap, a coordinated social media buzz will be sent out through our social networks on December 10 at noon. This will leave twenty-four hours for us to pull into first place to win a $20,000 grant from Sungevity (voting closes at midnight December 11). With our powers combined, we can multiply our friend networks to dramatically increase the visibility of our message!

What will SELC do with this $20,000?
SELC believes communities shouldn’t BUY power. We should OWN power! We’ll create model policies and legal structures for community-owned renewable energy. This includes viable replicable models, essential legal documents, and model policies for community- and cooperatively-owned renewable energy projects.

Who is funding the $20,000 grant?
Here at SELC, we're conscious of where we get our funding. Sungevity is an innovative solar company focused on creating the world’s most energized network of customers who power their lives with sunshine.

Caroline Lee is a Law Fellow at the Sustainable Economies Law Center (SELC). SELC builds thriving local economies by creating legal structures for and removing legal barriers to localized production, democratic job creation, and monetary abundance. Growing economic disparities and ecological crises mandate that communities rapidly establish local projects and enterprises that provide a sustainable source of locally controlled jobs, food, housing, transportation, and energy. SELC provides essential legal tools—education, research, advice, and advocacy—to support this transition to localized, resilient economies.

Specifically, SELC’s Community Renewable Energy Program educates the public about the benefits of community-owned renewable energy, engages with diverse communities to enable participation and ownership in local, community-shared renewable energy generation, and advocates for laws and regulations that will facilitate collective ownership.
