Please Stay is a VR trip into a futuristic puzzle world, influenced by the Sci-Fi era. It's got fun gaming elements and a rich immersive story about a robot that lost his memory, in which you need to unravel the story level by level while solving puzzles and having fun in the game's world.
About the game...
The player wakes up inside of a digital themed world. You are awoken by a little flying AI named Felix and are immediately told that you and him both have lost your memories. Together you go on a journey completing environmental puzzles and searching for Felix’s lost memories (these are shown as large stones) as well as your own. While unlocking Felix’s memory, you discover that things are not exactly as they seem. Felix's personality changes and evolves throughout the game, hinting the player that there might be a different agenda at play underneath the surface. Help Felix find his memory while keeping a close eye on him and the world around you to unlock your real purpose.
Who we are and why we are doing this...
We are a group of six (6) indie developers that include: 1 manager, 2 designers, 1 programmer, 1 artist and 1 audio engineer, who are passionate gamers and even more passionate game-makers who like to create games and build worlds. We all met online and decided that we want to combine our skills and focus on building great games. We have made over a dozen successful games so far on mobile devices, but now turned our attention to VR. We noticed that there is a lack of narrative-driven VR games, but a large demand for them. So, we decided that we need to build the very type of game we would all enjoy the most.
However, we know that in order to make a great game, you need more than just the story. Which is why we wanted to make a narrative-driven game with addictive gameplay. We were inspired by games such as Portal and Stanley’s Parable, and were able to come up with gameplay that would be enjoyable to everyone, even if you strip it away of its story. So if we think it’s fun and has not been done yet then why not build it? We want to raise money to build a game that leaves our fans happy and asking for more.
By backing this project you are helping build a game for those who love environmental puzzles with strong narrative driven gameplay, and those that think that VR games should have more depth to them. We want people to add their comments and thoughts about the game as we develop it, and any donation, even $1 CAD, gets us closer to our goal.
What We Need & What You Get
We want to raise $5,000 CAD to pay for equipment, licensing, and marketing materials to get us on the Steam store. We are making the game on our own time and resources and don't want be greedy. Whatever funds we raise will be used 100% towards marketing and materials for our game.
Our perks - We will give you a link to come hang out with us and chat live and view us actually coding and playing the game. We are all super friendly and from 3 different countries.
Our campaign is important to us and for the people who love VR games and want more of them. We are making a difference as we give some of our revenues to charities such as the Happy Housing which helps to fight the homelessness in Canada.
We worked on some of these games that were very successful and can be seen at rikkir.com & happyhousing.org
We are now trying to make a game that is going to get attention for being unique and bring the joy of narrative-driven games to VR.
Risks & Challenges
This is our first VR game, but we feel that our experience in game making lead us to this and gave us the edge we needed.
We are actively playtesting other VR games to make sure we get our game just right, and are getting people to sign up and become alpha testers to help us find bugs and suggest features.
