Shout About 'Nabe Grants!

Citizens Committee for New York City's mission is simple: to help New Yorkers —especially those in low-income areas— come together and improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods. Our 2018 Neighborhood Grants are available for groups of volunteers who've identified an issue or need in their community and are looking for support to set a solution in motion. We need your help to spread the word as loudly as possible! Some quick facts about our grants:

  • Examples of projects we support include: community gardening, visual and performing arts, nutrition awareness, composting, beautification, tenant and immigrant organizing, physical fitness, public safety, and more!
  • You do not have to be an established non-profit organization or have 501c3 status to be eligible for a grant. We consider applications from any group of neighbors working to improve their communities.
  • Citizens Committee grants are not for individuals, for-profit businesses, agencies with paid staff, and religious, fraternal, or partisan organizations, or groups with an annual budget of greater than $40,000. HOWEVER, Public schools are exempt from the “unstaffed” criterion!
  • In 2017, our Neighborhood Grants supported nearly 300 projects in primarily low-income neighborhoods across the city.

  • A Booming Thank-You from Citizens Committee!

    Hi neighbors,

On Tuesday, you lent your support to Citizens Committee as a part of our Thunderclap campaign, reaching over 20,000 New Yorkers on social media (and many more through retweets and shares)! For that, I just wanted to *thunderously* say THANK YOU! We're looking forward to receiving more applications than ever this year, and you're playing an important role in making sure that your fellow Big Apple-ites know that these resources are available. While we appreciate your support, we hope that we can serve as a source for funding and knowledge for you as well! Don't forget to submit your own application, and give me a call (212-822-9595) if you have any questions at all.

    In unity,

Citizens Committee for New York City's mission is simple: to help New Yorkers —especially those in low-income areas— come together and improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods. Whether it's organizing a farmer's market, painting a mural, composting cafeteria scraps, or launching a dance camp, we can help make your idea a reality.

We’re one of the nation’s oldest micro-funding organizations; raising money from foundations, corporations, and individual donors—then awarding it to amazing projects.
