On an autumn Saturday each year since 2008, tens of thousands
of gamers join together to save the lives of local kids in a celebration
of gaming culture that we call Extra Life.
From console games to tabletop RPG's to lawn sports, Extra Life
gives people that love to play a chance to do what they love doing while saving lives and
making a difference.
To participate you need only sign up for free, and gather
the support of your friends and family through tax-deductible donations to your
local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. (The money you raise will go
to the CMN Hospital you choose.) Then on Saturday, November 2nd—or any day that
works for you—play any game on any platform that you want with anyone you
want for as long as you want.
To date, our incredible players have raised more than 4 million dollars, and this year, on November 2nd, 2013 we believe they will outdo themselves yet again.
Inspired by a lively leukemia survivor named Tori Enmon, radio DJ Jeromy "Doc" Adams and his fellow video game bloggers at Sarcastic Gamer started Extra Life in 2008. Though Tori eventually lost her battle to cancer, Jeromy realized that gamers wanted to give back—they just didn't have a way to do it yet. He created Extra Life, an event where participants play anything (video games, tabletop games, card games, sports, etc.) to challenge themselves to raise lifesaving funds for kids in need. Since its inception, Extra Life has been a national program through Children's Miracle Network Hospitals that has raised more than 4 million dollars.
