#MakingaDifference

Local newspapers up and down the UK campaign tirelessly on the issues that matter to their readers, achieving real results and bringing about positive change in their communities.

Launching at the start of Local Newspaper Week (12- 18 May), the national Making a Difference campaign will highlight the ability of local media – in print, online, on mobile and social media - to make a difference to the lives of individuals in local communities in a way that no other media can – whether it’s raising funds for a life-saving operation, keeping a day centre open, campaigning for justice or cleaning up a local park - through this vital campaigning work.

At the start of the Week, a showcase of the best local newspaper campaigns from across the UK will go live on the Local Newspaper Week - www.localnewspaperweek.co.uk - and you will be able to view all the campaigns and vote for your favourite. The winning campaign will be announced at the end of the Week.

Organizer

Local Newspaper Week
@localpaperweek

Local Newspaper Week is an annual national campaign celebrating the important role played by local media - local newspapers in print and on digital platforms - in communities across the UK. It is run by the local media industry and coordinated by the Newspaper Society, the voice of Britain’s local and regional media.

Hundreds of local newspapers take part each year by running Week-themed content and initiatives celebrating the industry such as features, supplements, or competitions for readers. Some newspapers go the extra mile with initiatives such as good news only editions, reader surgeries, or inviting a guest editor to take the helm for a day.

This year, the theme is Making a Difference and the Week will highlight the power of local media to make a difference to the lives of ordinary individuals in a way that no other media can.
