by Edward James Olmos category: Environment
My name is Edward James Olmos. Like many others, I believe this generation should make every responsible effort to leave this planet environmentally sound for the next generation. They deserve that.
There are those among us that work every day to prevent this from happening and I am not talking about Cylons!
What I am talking about are unconscionable corporate polluters who put their profit before their communities every single day.
If they were doing the right thing, corporate polluters would incorporate this basic cost of manufacturing into the product they produce, before it even got to the market place. If they were doing the right thing they would use the best possible technology to avoid even the insinuation they are polluting a community in which they are doing business.
But like the soulless Cylons, corporate polluters never do the right thing, unless of course they are forced to. In fact, they do everything they can to avoid doing the right thing! They seek out every loopholes available to them in the environmental laws of this nation to find ways to continue their thoughtless pollution based business practices. Why? Because in their world, profit comes before just about anything else, including the planet.
Each year, instead of just cleaning up the mess they create, they spend hundreds of millions of dollars hiring pro polluter lobbyists in Washington to see how they can continue to avoid cleaning up the mess they make.
They simply refuse to accept responsibility for the environmental damage they cause. Polluter Corporations seem to be perfectly willing to sell the entire human race down the river in the name of profit. They are unwilling to do is incorporate the available changes, necessary to end the unspeakable environmental damage they continue to create each day.
Unwillingness to consider change is never a good thing. And while we don't have the options the survivors on Battlestar Galatica had, we do have people who are willing to go to battle ever day against these corporate cylons and fight for our right, and it is a right, to clean swimmable, drinkable and fishable water.
The men & women of Waterkeeper Alliance stand up against these unspeakable acts of corporate pollution every single day. They are local citizens who have just said, enough is enough, you can't do this to our waterway any longer!
Polluting a waterway is breaking the law.
Waterkeepers are enforcers, they are vigilant, they are passionate, they are unstoppable. Because, they are… Waterkeepers.
So please, take a moment to watch this, and maybe it will inspire you to join us in this war against Corporate Cylon Pollution
Edward James Olmos
The Planet is at risk, we must save it from corporate cylon polluters!
