Food Revolution

Jamie Oliver and the Food Revolution Day team want to change the way people eat by giving them the skills and knowledge to cook again, as well as motivating people to stand up for their right to better food. Food Revolution Day aims to educate and inspire people everywhere to cook and enjoy better food and empower them to demand better food standards and improved food education from governments, schools and food manufacturers.

ON 17 MAY, MAKE A STAND AND GET THE WORD OUT THERE – JOIN US IN SENDING A UNITED MESSAGE TO THE WORLD.

Friday 17 May 2013 is Food Revolution Day, a global day of action for people everywhere to come together to celebrate real food and learn where it comes from and how to cook it.

Learning how to cook is one of the most valuable skills you can ever learn. These skills used to be passed down from generation to generation, but now millions of people lack even the most basic skills.

  • As cooking skills are declining so less people are cooking good, nutritious food, made from scratch (1).
  • Worldwide, 500 million adults are obese and more than 1.5 billion are overweight. By 2030, nearly 60% of the world’s population could be obese (2).
  • Diet-related diseases are among the world's biggest killers (3). Physical inactivity and poor diet were responsible for 12.5 million deaths in 2010 (4).

We need to get back to basics: cook and eat fresh, local produce; share cooking skills and food knowledge and join forces within communities to get as many people involved as possible.

  • Do you believe in the magic of food and that everyone should know how to cook tasty, nutritious food from scratch?
  • Do you believe in sharing food skills and knowledge so that everyone can understand how incredible good food is, where it comes from, how it affects the body and how it can save our lives?

We need the world to take notice – we need to shout our message out loud, together and all at once.

Join Jamie Oliver, the Food Revolution global community and many more in reaching out to people around the world, at the same time with one, single message – sign up to this Thunderclap.
