Pledge of Resistance

No Fracked Gas Pipeline in Virginia and West Virginia

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency, and our federal, state, and local political leaders to act now to prevent the proposed Mountain Valley pipeline from being installed through Virginia and West Virginia.

This proposed pipeline would be 36 to 42 inches in diameter.

 (1.) The blasting to install this high pressure fracked gas pipeline could seriously damage the environment.  It could affect the availability of ground water.  Wells could go dry. Water could be unattainable or unusable.

 (2.) A natural gas pipeline is subject to leaks.  This emits methane which is highly explosive.

(3.) Local communities will likely have no access to this gas which is intended for transport, not immediate use.

With my signature, I hereby state my opposition and resistance to the proposed “Mountain-Valley” fracked gas pipeline cutting through West Virginia and Virginia.

 I am aware that the proposed fracked gas pipeline project:

  • would severely threaten our pure water, wells, rivers, wetlands, soil, and forests;
  • would create a dangerous, enormous construction and easement corridor;
  • would not create many jobs – local clean energy projects could create more jobs;
  • would put us at risk for explosions, fires, chemical leaks, and other disasters;
  • would be likely to decrease property values and raise insurance rates; and
  • would take away landowners’ rights.

 It is imperative to maintain a safe and reliable water supply.  Our beautiful country should not be used as a pathway for the Mountain Valley pipeline. I stand with landowners, environmental advocates, farmers, foresters, local businesses, families, and all citizens who understand that preserving Virginia and West Virginia for our children and grandchildren means saying NO to the pipeline.
