The complexity of a teacher’s work is rarely understood. And the expertise of teachers isn’t celebrated enough! Yet Teacher Appreciation Week provides a unique opportunity to change the way the public views the teaching profession.

Last year, a movement was born from a simple question: what if teachers used the power of social media to celebrate the complexity and importance of teaching? A hashtag was created, and #TeachingIs became a conduit for teachers to engage with the public.

This year, you can contribute to the #TeachingIs movement using your Facebook wall, Twitter stream, Instagram account, and faculty lounges. Using Tweets, video clips, and images, we invite teachers, parents, and students to tell their individual and collectives stories about what teaching is.

Through your stories, we can change the conversation and celebrate the positive impact and influence of teachers all over the world.

  • Thank you! Here's what's next for #TeachingIs

    May 4, 2015
Thank you for donating a status update or a Tweet. We've successfully launched the #TeachingIs campaign, reaching more than 5 million individuals. We would not have met our goals without you—so thank you!. WOOHOO!

...yet this is just the start. Please continue to use the #TeachingIs hashtag throughout this week to share your definitions of what teaching REALLY is. Take photos, use images contained within the #TeachingIs teacher toolkit, and keep helping us spread the campaign to teachers, parents, students, and policymakers.

Thanks for your support. Be sure to visit www.teachingquality.org/teachingis for links to resources and updates throughout the week.

Together, we can transform the public narrative about teaching and the teaching profession. Thank you!

Thanks for helping provide the public with a deeper look into the complexities and importance of the teaching profession.
