UNIFORM - Back an amazing Kickstarter campaign!!!July 9, 2015We are thrilled to see all types of campaigns for Liberia succeeding. With over a week to go still in their Kickstarter campaign, Liberty & Justice has already surpassed their funding goal for UNIFORM, a clothing company getting kids back to school and women back to work in Liberia following last year’s Ebola outbreak.
The concept behind UNIFORM is that for every t-shirt purchased, L&J donate a uniform to a child who otherwise couldn't attend school. Over 6,000 (!!!) kids will go to school because of what L&J and all their backers have done together. What would happen if you and your community got involved?
The model is simple: the more Kickstarter backers UNIFORM gets, the more children get to go to school, the more women get jobs, and the more L&J can expand the UNIFORM clothing brand.
This is a HUGE moment for an inspiring and admirable cause and here are the ways you can get involved:
1. Get your t-shirt on Kickstarter (tiny.cc/uniform)
2. Like and Share our story on FB (tiny.cc/UniformFB)
3. Forward this in an email to your community
How far can we take it?July 8, 2015We've surpassed our support goal, but we're not stopping here. With 5 days left in our campaign, we hope that you continue to share, like, and tweet about #SESEZLiberia to support our campaign for SEZ legislation.
Once again, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have already signed up; we appreciate all the support. Don't forget to sign the petition and take our Cambridge sponsored survey.
We're looking forward to the launch on Monday and the continued support from all of you. Thanks!
Scoping mission with SPCitI in MonroviaJuly 6, 2015Check out some photos from the recent scoping mission with our partners at SPcitI here in Monrovia. This Urban Planning and development group had an intense series of meetings with visits to the port, the intended site of the zone, local communities, and partners involved in the development of the SESEZ. They were greeted with a lot of interest, enthusiasm and brilliant ideas to propel this initiative to the next level. Looking forward to the establishment of the first Liberian Social Enterprise Special Economic Zone!!
Naming contestJuly 6, 2015Social Enterprise Special Economic Zone, or SESEZ for short – er… Admittedly, the name is not the catchiest and can be a bit of a mouthful. When our program initially began we realized that a more succinct name could probably still describe the program sufficiently, but the name and momentum spread too quickly for us to change to something better. Nevertheless, we think there’s probably something more appealing we can call it, and we want to hear your suggestions.
Be creative; what do you think a zone like the SESEZ should be called? Is it Social Impact Zone or maybe Social Enterprise Park? We want to hear from you! So, think about what our program wants to achieve and how we envision accomplishing our goals, then come up with the name that you feel best describes SESEZ.
We’re looking forward to your submissions. Spread the word and show us what you can come up with. At the end of the month we’ll consider all your ideas a choose our favorite as the new name for SESEZ.
Submit your name by tweeting @SESEZLiberia ‘Rename #SESEZLiberia ‘#your idea’
Let the naming begin….
