For the past three years I've been working on the game both full time and half time, while attending school or while working; this time has been both fun and challenging. My goal now is to focus on slapping a "1.0 version" out on the market within a reasonable amount of time. I've made a long list of features that I want to implement in order to feel fully satisfied, and I believe that all my current and future players will feel the same. To accomplish this within a reasonable time, I need to be able to focus on the development full time for one year from now - and to do that I need stability in my economy.
Just know that 1.0 is not the final version of the game, as I will keep working on the game beyond that, but it would give me some peace of mind knowing that what's out there is good enough on it's own, and that everything on top of that is just a bonus.
Dwelvers is a real time strategy game inspired by the old time classics 'Dungeon Keeper' and 'The Settlers'. The player takes the role of an evil Dungeon Lord who needs to guide their minions to dig out paths and rooms in order to grow their dungeon. The game is based on creating minions and keeping them happy in various ways, only then will you be able to lead them into battle and defeat your enemies!
The most challenging part for the player is creating advanced production chains in order to have enough food and beer to keep their creatures satisfied; a drunk minion is a happy minion! Other than the basic needs the player must also research and build equipment to outfit their army so it's a force to be reckoned with. To make sure your enemies don't sneak into your base you can research and build traps to give them a fun surprise on their way in.
The theme of the game will have a lot of dark humor, and each creature will have its own personality, demands and fighting style, forcing the player to handle the creatures in different ways in order to max out their full potential. A happy minion is an efficient minion!
