Congress: No War in Syria

We are glad that President Obama has heeded the calls for the rightful, constitutional role of Congress in deciding on US military strike against Syria.

The human tragedy of the ongoing civil war and the use of chemical weapons are appalling.

We believe the US should act, but not militarily.

US military action will only increase the violence and could lead to US engagement in another war in the Middle East.

Our response to the use of chemical weapons? Galvanize an international diplomatic response starting with a ceasefire and continued humanitarian support for refugees who are fleeing the civil war.

US military action will only increase the violence and could lead to US engagement in another war in the Middle East.

We and the people of Syria cannot afford the human and economic costs of escalating the violence with a military strike.

They estimate 200 Tomahawk missiles will be used in a strike on Syria. One Tomahawk missile costs 1 million dollars. How many jobs created, how many schools and roads repaired for 200 million dollars?

Many in the military question the wisdom of launching a military strike on Syria http://wapo.st/1dyNdwV

Secretary of State Kerry was right. A military solution is not possible in Syria. A diplomatic solution is, if the US pursues an international diplomatic effort instead of a military strike.

Urge your Congressional representative to oppose US military action in Syria.
