Respect, Acceptance, Inclusion

As part of a long-running awareness campaign to be launched on World Autism Awareness Day, in 2016 Autism-Europe will be focusing on the theme “Respect, acceptance, Inclusion”.

In the campaign we ask you to take a picture of yourselves passing a baton or holding the visual of the campaign with friends/family or colleagues for inclusion and acceptance of people with autism.

The 2016 campaign would like to shift the focus from mere “awareness” to “acceptance” of autism in order to promote further inclusion in society.

The idea is to convey a positive and optimist message about autism. Also the campaign will foster the social model of disability and have a strong rights-based approach, recalling the rights enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disability.
