Add your voice and tell the World Bank to do the right thing and freeze their investments in large land deals that cause hunger and poverty.

Oxfam: Stop #landgrabs!

Big land deals - or 'land grabs' - are tearing whole communities apart, leaving people hungry and homeless. It’s big business at a big cost.

Factors like rising food prices and a demand for new fuels are leading to a land rush all over the world, and it is getting out of control. Poor people are losing the land they rely on to grow food to big companies, who use the land to grow crops to export to richer countries.

But the World Bank has the power to be a force for good. With your assistance, it can help protect the rights of the world’s poorest people.

The World Bank funds many land grabs. It influences how land is bought and sold. This means it can influence others in stopping land injustice. We want the World Bank to freeze its investment in land for 6 months while it sets better standards for others to follow.

Help us grab the attention of the World Bank. Add your tweet to our Thunderclap to be part of the big noise on Monday October 8th. We're banking on World Bank President Jim Kim to do the right thing and help stop land grabs.
