On Tuesday 25th October, members of the House of Lords will vote on the Department for Education's expansion of the data collected by the thrice yearly School and Early Years census to include country of birth and nationality information on 8 million children in England.
In the virulently anti-migrant climate that has engulfed the UK post-Brexit, the collection of this information is a gift to parties seeking to demonise migrants, and will put migrant children and their families at greater risk of harassment and harm.
We are calling on peers to vote down this divisive policy and for the government to scrap it altogether. Until they do so, we are calling on parents and educators to boycott the school census and exercise their legal right to refuse to give school's this information.
For more information on the School Census and the ways in which the data collected is used & abused, see our latest blog post here

Our aim is to reverse the Department of Education’s (DfE) policy, effective from September 2016, to collect country of birth and nationality information on 8 million children in England.
