What is “Supporting”?
Supporting a Thunderclap campaign is like signing a petition but with the added power of simultaneously sharing a message. You and every other supporter are standing up for an idea with the power of your voice.
How do I support?
Choose between your Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr account to grant Thunderclap permission to post a message on your behalf. That’s it! If the campaign reaches its support goal by the deadline, Thunderclap will automatically post your message and all other supporters' messages at the same time.
A note on privacy
When you log into Thunderclap using your Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr account, you’re allowing our platform to share a single message on your behalf. That’s all. We use the absolute minimum permissions possible to post a message on your behalf. The platforms we integrate with sometimes include additional permissions that we do not use and we will not post anything from your friends' accounts.

Why KickStarter
--------------------------------------
Manufacturing games in large enough volume to make them viable for sale requires a large commitment for minimum quantities. Shipping for games is also a challenge; with volume, shipping costs can begin to outweigh manufacturing costs. We need volume for distribution, and as much as we love the few sets that we've had produced for beta testing, the cost of those sets after manufacturing and shipping simply doesn't allow us to grow or re-invest in new variations or games. In short - we need the help of the Kickstarter crowdfunding community to produce in quantities large enough to share with the world! King's Court has strategy, competition, great artwork, excellent playability, and best of all - replay value! We know that you'll love it.
Tell me more about 5ive: King's Court
--------------------------------------
5ive is a set-building game where players take turns attempting to foil the plans of their rivals by completing their own royal court. Players compete to complete a set of all 5ive card types by completing each of five actions. Every action will impact another player, so strategy is critical. A simple error in judgement could prevent you from completing your Court, allowing another player to take control and win the game!
In the King's Court, your role is to play actions that result in each of the members of your court (The King, Queen, Knight, Bishop and Rook) being in play. Each member of the court must complete a specific action before being added to the court, and multiples of any member can be added for security.
The game takes just a few minutes to learn, and a round takes from 10 to 20 minutes to play.
Product Construction
--------------------------------------
The initial production run is scheduled for high quality playing card stock. If we are able to exceed our goals, we will upgrade to an even more durable stock. Cards are full color, and will come packaged with:
- A lovely full color and decidedly purpose built card storage unit (A box)
- 55 Cards representing the members of the Court (5 members, in 11 themes) with distinct artwork
- The "Rules"
Origin Story
--------------------------------------
The game mechanic was devised by Luke Wilkinson, and David Papp decided to help make it all a reality. The GameStax team had great fun playing the mechanics demo. We printed several sets of the single word cards and battled it out. Along the way - we found that likening our 5ive cards to a 'team' of some sort added to playability. Soon we were adding symbols and colors to ensure we had created the full set.
After a lot of searching we arrived at the King's Court. Using the home row of a Chess set for inspiration, the King, Queen, Knight, Bishop and Rook formed the core five - or 'the 5ive'.
We couldn't settle on just one theme for the first deck, so we hired a brilliant illustrator to devise artwork for all of the possible sets of 5 in the game. Zombies, Aliens, Cats, Elder Gods - you name it. And since each court is filled by one of the 5ive - your court will be different nearly every time you play!
Our upcoming Kickstarter edition features:
- A traditional Medieval Court
- Amazing Aliens
- Stunning Steampunk
- Cthulhu
- Atlanteans of the Undersea
- Werewolves
- Feline Shenanigans
- Dungeon Fantasy
- Robot Overlords
- Zombies
- and Superheroes!
GameStax has created successful Kickstarter projects before, with our Game Accessory UberStax - and we learned a GREAT deal from that experience. Production and Fulfillment are very different beasts, and we've taken that experience to heart for this project.
