Wednesday, February 1, 2017, U.S. Figure Skating will invite people around the
United States to participate in the inaugural National Get Up Day, a celebration of those who embody the Get Up spirit.
We all fall. It’s how we get up that matters.
Getting up is something you do in the rink and out in the world.
Every time you go to practice. Every time you fight for something you believe in.
Every time you stumble and find your balance, you are reminded that life is slippery. But you get up.
We encourage National Get Up Day supporters to share their stories at WeGetUp.com, by using #GetUpDay or by contacting their local media outlets with their story, or the story of a friend or loved one, or an organization that is doing inspiring Get Up work in their community.
U.S. Figure Skating will encourage media outlets around the country to share Get Up moments throughout the day on February 1, whether connected to the sport of figure skating or not, through feature stories, pictures, videos, social media, etc.
The first lesson taught in skating is how to fall down, and more importantly, how to get back up again, a lesson everyone can apply across all aspects of their lives – Get Up.
