In January 2016 our founder Josh Cogan joined Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings' LGBT Taskforce chaired by Councilman Adam Medrano. Josh works for Councilman Medrano's office and works closely with him to elevate LGBTQ rights equality in Dallas, specifically focusing on LGBTQ youth homelessness. The heartbeat of our all-volunteer run organization is to raise awareness for this issue in Dallas and connect the youth to resources that they are currently unaware exist.
We're asking everyone to pledge to help end this issue in Dallas by drawing a green heart on their hand as an outward sign of support on February 14. Take a photo and share it on social media with the hashtag #OutlastYouth and be sure to follow along @outlastyouth on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. We'll be posting facts and photos all day!
We chose February 14 because it is traditionally a day love is celebrated, but LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness are shown no love by being forced out of their homes because of their sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. This is one tangible way we can show them love and stand with them in solidarity.
Stand with us on February 14 and spread awareness. Thank you for joining in our cause!
We are an organization that exists to reduce and prevent LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness in Dallas and its surrounding counties by 2020.
