Join Amgen and the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) in recognizing March as Myeloma Action Month.
Multiple myeloma is an incurable blood cancer that is characterized by recurring cycles of relapse and remission, with patients eventually becoming resistant to treatment. While it’s the second most common blood cancer, a survey of 746 U.S. multiple myeloma patients showed that 83% had no prior knowledge of the disease at diagnosis. This lack of awareness can lead to delayed diagnoses, which are associated with a significant impact on the clinical course of the disease.
The IMF has declared March as “Myeloma Action Month,” and is asking myeloma patients, health care professionals, advocates, caregivers and family or friends of those impacted with this disease to join together and take action to empower patients and arm them with knowledge. Being aware of this rare disease can guide patients to ask their doctors to consider myeloma as a possible cause for their symptoms, leading to earlier diagnoses.
Amgen and the IMF are doing their part to take action this month. Join us in showing support for Myeloma Action Month by spreading the word to your followers and raising awareness of this incurable disease.
