Help save moms and babies!

Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a life threatening, acute, and unexpected birth complication that affects both mother and baby. Globally, more than 3,000 women a year will suffer an AFE.

Despite having been recognized for nearly a century, AFE remains poorly understood and remains a leading cause of maternal death. Research is needed to better understand this devastating medical enigma.

The AFE Foundation was founded in 2008 to support the needs of the those affected, advance research, and promote clinician education. It is the only organization in the world dedicated to amniotic fluid embolism and has founded the world's largest database of AFE cases to be the basis for clinical research.

AFE Awareness Day is an international day to take action and further our mission. Honor the many mothers and children impacted or lost to AFE and join our fight to #EndAFE.

Take action today. Participate. Advocate. Donate.

The AFE Foundation, a U.S. based non-profit organization established in 2008, is a unique coalition of affected families, respected clinicians, world-renowned researchers, and engaged advocates working together to advance research, promote awareness and education, and offer support to families affected by amniotic fluid embolism (AFE).
