by National Coalition of STD Directors category: Health
In honor of the 2017 STD Day of Action (DOA) called “20/20: STD DOA” to bring awareness to the raging STD epidemic in this country. The goal of 20/20 is to illustrate that we are seeing STD rates at 20 year highs with funding levels near 20 year lows, and we have a vision for a healthier America. This day is especially important with the recent release of President Trump’s unreasonable 17% cut to STD Prevention funding. This proposed cut will only serve to exacerbate the already worsening STD rates. STD prevention funding must rise to meet the ever increasing STD burden in America!
That’s why WE NEED YOU to increase the voices talking about the importance of federal STD prevention funding. Programs that have strong grassroots support tend to enjoy support from elected officials—they can’t support programs they don’t know about. For the DOA, NCSD will be facilitating meetings with congressional offices with constituents from around the country, and we want you to join us in spreading the word about STD Prevention!
National Coalition of STD Directors
Our mission is to advance effective STD prevention programs and services in every community across the country. NCSD does this as the voice of our membership. We provide leadership, build capacity, convene partners, and advocate.
