I remember…I remember the look on my Nana’s face when she saw family pull into the driveway. I remember the look on her face when she caught my cousin and I sneaking into the house late one summer night well after curfew.
And, I remember the look on her face the first time she saw me and didn’t know who I was.
Our story is not dissimilar from the millions of people who have watched Alzheimer’s slowly take away a loved one and felt powerless to stop it. We struggle to find an answer to the question, “What can I do?” For us, the answer came in the form of making a film.
Three years ago, we set out to make a film that not only celebrated the place we call home in a way we don't normally see, but also raise awareness about this terrible disease in a way that we hadn’t seen before. A story that would show how it affects both those suffering from it and the family and friends around them who are watching their loved ones slowly disappear.
Through a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2011, an extraordinary partnership with the Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter, we completed the film last fall and, after our World Premiere in West Virginia on June 23rd, we embarked on a hugely successful theatrical tour that included over 125 screenings in cities across the country. And now the time has come to share our film with the world!
That's where you come in. We have been picked up by Gravitas Ventures for Cable-VOD and Digital distribution and, beginning December 1st, we will be available in over 100 million homes in the U.S. and on digital platforms around the world! We know there's a huge audience out there who will be touched by this film, they just don't know it yet!
From the very beginning, this film has been a project made by and for our community...an Army of Angels who believed in the story we were telling. We hope you'll join us!
