#PatientsNotPassports

Take action with us on the 30th of September to end immigration checks in the NHS. We call on the government to see #PatientsNotPassports, stop scapegoating migrants, and to fully fund the NHS.

We'll be marching on a secret London location (Find out more via our Facebook event page), but if you can't make it you can still help us by signing up to this Thunderclap to publicise the event, by using the #PatientsNotPassports tag, and by sharing our posts and tweets on Saturday 30th September (especially between midday and 2pm).

The Government is trying to blame migrants for the NHS funding crisis, but the numbers don’t add up. At most, so called ‘Health tourism’ only accounts for 0.3% of the NHS budget. Learn more and sign up for updates on further campaigning at docsnotcops.co.uk

  • You made it 100!

    September 25, 2017
    We're delighted to announce that over 100 of you have signed up to support our Thunderclap to promote the #PatientsNotPassports day of action on September 30th.

    Thanks to your willingness to post to your networks, messages to promote the day of action will potentially reach up to 275,000 people the day before, September 29th.

    With your help, we can reach even more people - we'd love to have another 100 people sign up in the next 4 days - please encourage friends to sign up, and let them know why you think this is important.

    While we've got you, did you see we've announced meet up locations for the 30th?

    3 blocs will converge on a secret location - choose your bloc and stand with us! Full details in the #PatientsNotPassports Facebook event.
    • The Migrants Welcome bloc will be led by Migrants Organise and will meet at 11.30am at Whitehall Gardens
    • The Sisters Bloc (Women and Non-binary people only) will be led by Sisters Uncut and meet at 11.30am at Lambeth North
    • The Maternity Care Bloc will be led by MedAct Refugee Solidarity Group (MedAct RSG) and meet at 11.30am at Jubilee Gardens

    The Sisters Bloc and the Maternity Care Bloc will follow a route that is accessible. The secret location has accessible toilets.

    As well as London, actions will also take place in Manchester (hosted by MedAct on Oxford Rd) and Newcastle (details TBC)!

    Contact us if you have any questions regarding accessibility or suitability - we are committed to making this action open to all: docsnotcops@gmail.com

    Finally, in case you missed it, we wrote a piece to coincide with Labour Conference: "Labour must end May’s ‘hostile environment’ for migrants in the NHS"

@DocsNotCops

Docs Not Cops are a group of NHS staff and patients that work to combat racism in the NHS. We believe no one should be afraid to access the healthcare they need, either because they can’t pay or might be punished, and that NHS workers should not be forced to police the people they treat. We believe healthcare is a basic human right and that no one should be afraid to see a qualified professional. www.docsnotcops.co.uk
