#HoldHighTheTorch on 11/11/17

On 11 November 2017 we are asking you to pledge to #HoldHighTheTorch to remember our fallen heroes.

How to get involved:

  • Sign up for our Thunderclap campaign and make the pledge.
  • Download the Hold High The Torch application for iOS or Android.
  • On 8 November a Tweet or Facebook post of your pledge will be sent via your chosen platform.
  • Hold high the torch on 11 November by taking a photo using the app.
  • Share the image across your social platforms with the hashtag #HoldHighTheTorch.
Your pledge will be added to our interactive map displaying the commemorative wave of light as it spreads across the country. To ensure you’re not missed off the map, make sure the location setting on the device you are using is on when sharing on Twitter and Facebook.

Thank you for your support.

About the commission:

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) was established in 1917 to ensure that men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died during the two world wars would always be remembered.

Today, we pay tribute to 1.7 million men and women who gave their lives in two world wars, by caring for their graves and memorials at more than 23,000 locations in 154 countries and territories.

For 100 years, the flame of remembrance has been a defining image for the CWGC. It forms part of the Commission’s official seal and symbolises our commitment to remembering those who died in the two world wars, today, tomorrow and forever.

Hold High The Torch is designed to build on that legacy.

We are asking people across the world to download the free Hold High The Torch app and use it on 11 November to create a global remembrance moment – a wave of light from Australia to the UK.

By taking part you are helping to remember all those who gave their today for our tomorrow.
