October 18 marks the 45th anniversary of the Clean Water Act. This landmark law was designed to protect all of our waters – from the smallest streams to the mightiest rivers – from pollution and destruction. It ushered in a new era of of healthier waters for swimming, fishing, and drinking nationwide
Yet, even as we celebrate the 45th anniversary of this important law, many of our rivers remain polluted by urban and agricultural runoff and sewer overflows, and almost half of our streams are in poor health.
What’s worse, so much of the progress we’ve made over the past 45 years is in danger of being wiped out. The Trump Administration and members of Congress are pushing to gut clean water protections, taking us back to the days of polluted rivers, fish kills and health risks.

We're fighting to protect clean water in the face of attacks from a polluter friendly Administration and Congress.
