Ireland, let us sing as ONE!

To mark the 25th anniversary of the UN Day for the Eradication of Poverty, the Irish Committee for this UN Day invites children, young people and adults all across Ireland to take 5 minutes at 11.17am on the 17th October 2017 to pay homage and show recognition to the courage and efforts of all those who are stuck in poverty, a man-made and very destructive form of violence (quoting here Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela).

During these 5 minutes everyone, alone or in groups at work, in schools or universities, in parishes or community centres, is invited to sing the song "Something Inside So Strong".created by Labi Siffre in 1987, the same year as the first End Poverty Day gathering in Paris (17 October 1987) .

A live-streaming of a choir singing the song will be available at www.17october.ie/live!

If we can together (and sing as one) we can make change happen (this is the message of Joseph Wresinski, the founder of the day).
