At Shared Care Scotland we have the privilege of hearing directly from carers their stories of short breaks and how much difference a break from their caring role can make. So often we hear things like ‘I felt like I was not just a carer, but a wife again’, or ‘I’m not just a carer, I’m a golfer too'.
‘Not just a carer’ might be just four words, but those words can be incredibly powerful in demonstrating that carers are individuals with hobbies, interests and skills too. We hope that our campaign will show the significant role that short breaks play in helping them build a life alongside their caring role.
Shared Care Scotland
Shared Care Scotland has a vision of a Scotland where everyone who receives support or provides unpaid care can live a full and satisfying life, with the assistance they need to take regular, quality breaks from the everyday demands of their caring routines. Short breaks provide a much needed release from the physical and emotional demands of the caring situation and help promote health and wellbeing.
