Coke: Don't choke our oceans!

Coca-Cola produces over 110 billion single-use plastic bottles each year—that’s over 3,400 bottles a second! Many of these single-use plastics end up in our oceans, where they harm marine life, break down into microplastics, and enter the food chain. With global plastic production set to double in the next 20 years and quadruple to 318 million metric tons by 2050, recycling alone is simply never going to solve this problem.

Coke is planning to release a global strategy on plastics in January 2018. Tell Coke that their new policy must set clear commitments to dramatically REDUCE their use of single-use plastic bottles, embrace reusable packaging, and invest in developing innovative new delivery systems. Hey Coke, don’t choke our oceans with plastic!

  • Thank you for taking action & telling Coke: don't choke our oceans!

    January 11, 2018
Yesterday, we went to the Coke headquarters in Atlanta to deliver the signatures of over 585,000 people from around the world who signed the petition telling Coca-Cola to stop choking our oceans with plastics.

In addition to that, people like you lent us their social media accounts to amplify that message and get it on Coke's radar by signing up for our Thunderclap. With your support, we were able to get a whopping reach of over 5.5 million people through social media — making sure that our message telling Coke to #breakfreefromplastic got to them.

We still have work to do, but with your support, we're one step closer to getting corporate giants like Coca-Cola to do their part in reducing plastic pollution and set better standards for other industry leaders. We know that Coke is planning to release a new plastic packaging policy this month. Your action could not have been better timed.

    Thank you!
