by Compassion in World Farming category: Animals
A recent Compassion in World Farming investigation into the production of Parmesan revealed the horrible suffering of many Italian dairy cows. The animals we saw were kept permanently confined and treated like milk machines.
However the representatives of Parmesan refused to listen. It was even reported that they claimed ‘animal welfare has little, if any, impact on the quality of the cheese’.
Please don’t stand for this – join our social media storm and shout louder!
Denying cows access to pasture limits their ability to behave naturally and causes them to suffer. ‘Quality’ is not compatible with suffering. Quality needs compassion.
Please add your voice today and help change the lives of dairy cows. Together we can end the cruelty behind Parmesan cheese. Thank you!

Compassion in World Farming
Compassion in World Farming was founded in 1967 by a British dairy farmer who became horrified at the development of intensive factory farming. Today, Compassion is the leading farm animal welfare organisation dedicated to ending factory farming and achieving a humane and sustainable food system.
