Human Rights Day has been celebrated on the 10th December since 1950 to bring to the attention ‘of the peoples of the world’ the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations.
Since 1950 the issue have not become less important, only the media changed. Internet is the new media where applying Human Rights is as importnat as anywhere else. Human Rights violations occur in every second online in chatrooms, in forums, in online games, on information portals and on different social media. The No Hate Speech Movement is organising actions to emphasize the importance respecting Human Rights of all people online! Human Rights Online!
The No Hate Speech Movement is the Campaign of the Council of Europe to combat hate speech online by and for young people in Europe. We stand for an Internet where Human Rights are respected and where "Freedom of Speech" cannot be an excuse for spreading hatred agaisnt different groups of poeple. We stand for Human Rights Online!
