53 Years: Legal Birth Control

Fifty-three years ago, on June 7, 1965, the Supreme Court decided Griswold v. Connecticut, which affirmed the right of married couples to use contraceptives – and recognized an individual's right to privacy in family planning matters. Griswold v. Connecticut paved the way for all women and men to access contraception and other essential preventive services through the publicly funded safety net and commercial insurance.
