by Scleroderma Aware category: Cause
Scleroderma is a hard word to say. But it’s an even harder disease to be affected by. An autoimmune disease with no known cause or cure, scleroderma affects people of all ages, genders and ethnicities. It causes the body to produce too much collagen, which in turn causes the skin to harden. Most patients suffer from symptoms that are both visible and invisible, and they can make everyday life extremely difficult.
Not only do scleroderma patients struggle with a disease, they struggle with a disease that not many know about. It’s why many feel like they suffer in silence—that they’re in this alone. But you can help us change that.
On June 29, World Scleroderma Day, let’s spread the word about scleroderma by sending a social media message across the world. Support this Thunderclap to help us raise awareness for scleroderma and raise scleroderma patients’ spirits. Support this Thunderclap to shout out loud with all of us—all at once.
To help us spread the word about scleroderma to the world:
1. Support our message on your Facebook or Twitter page (or both). On June 29, if we’ve reached our supporter goal, the message will be shared on your social media accounts.
2. Encourage your friends and family members to support our Thunderclap so we can have an even bigger reach and an even louder voice.
3. Watch as your messages are simultaneously shared around the world. Keep your eyes on Facebook and Twitter, and follow along throughout Scleroderma Awareness Month by tracking #HardWord.
