by Paul Curtman for State Auditor category: Politics
After leaving the Marine Corps, I went to work in finance. Before too long I had started engaging in the issues simply as a concerned tax payer. I spoke up at a town hall meeting being hosted by Senator McCaskill's office and my comments went viral online. I had done two segments on the Fox News channel by the end of the week and before too long, grassroots conservative had approached me about running for office. I prayed about it and soon had total peace that it was the right thing for me to do. After months of hard work and with the help of so many people, we won in a district many people said a conservative couldn't win.
It's been eight years since then and during my time in office, I've had the privilege of fighting for sound fiscal principles, efficient government, and other cost-saving measures to help reduce the tax burden on or people and limit the size and scope of government.
