Thumbs Up! 2018

OUR AIM

The 'Thumbs Up For Great Driving And Riding!' campaign has been organised by IAM RoadSmart - the UK's largest independent road safety charity.

With more vehicles on the roads, worsening congestion and increasing distraction from mobile phones, satnav and other modern technologies – politeness and courtesy between drivers and riders and other road users has become less common.

Our objective is to promote, encourage and acknowledge courteous driving and riding on UK roads throughout the month of August.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

Get involved and help us share the message by supporting us on social so our voices can be heard together. Tell your friends, family, work mates and maybe even those regular commuters you see and encourage them to show their appreciation for other road users.

A simple ‘Thumbs Up!’ to thank a driver for giving way, or for providing you with the space you need as you filter through traffic on your motorcycle, will make everyone's journey a little more pleasant - and you never know, it could have a positive knock-on effect!

WHEN DOES THE CAMPAIGN START?

The 'Thumbs Up For Great Driving And Riding!' campaign will be running throughout the month of August. Our Thunderclap campaign will launch on Wednesday 1 August at 7.00am, in the hope of spreading our message throughout the UK.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

  1. Join us by supporting our Thunderclap campaign by Tuesday 31 July
  2. Help spread the message through social media and word of mouth by encouraging friends and family to support our Thunderclap campaign before Tuesday 31 July
  3. Promote courteous driving and riding throughout August by giving other road users a smile and a ‘Thumbs Up!’ And then continue to do so!
  4. Share your positive experiences on social media and tag @IAMRoadSmart and also use the following hashtags: #ThumbsUpForGreatDriving, #ThumbsUpForGreatRiding, #ThumbsUpForGreatDrivingAndRiding and #IAMRoadSmart
