Yemen TPS National Call-In Day

Join us on Tuesday, June 26 for a National Call-In Day to #SaveTPS for Yemen.

Call your Representative and Senators at (202) 224-3121 to ask that they issue a statement and make a call to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in support of the extension and redesignation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Yemenis, ahead of the decision by DHS on July 5. #SaveTPS

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) allows individuals already living inside of the United States to receive protection when their designated countries face ongoing armed conflict, environmental disaster, or extraordinary and temporary conditions. Yemen first received TPS designation in September 2015 due to the armed conflict that erupted in 2014. Since then, the conflict has only intensified and made Yemen home to the world’s largest humanitarian crisis, including the world’s largest hunger crisis and the largest and fastest growing cholera outbreak in modern history. What’s more, the United States is actively engaged in the conflict by providing supplies to some parties to Yemen’s conflict with weapons and other forms of logistical support. The United States simply cannot contribute to a conflict engendering the world’s worst humanitarian crisis and expel those seeking shelter from its grave consequences.

On July 5, 2018, the DHS will determine whether to eliminate or extend and redesignate TPS for nearly 1,200 Yemenis currently in the US.
