Make your voice count on December 10th
The Internet Society is lending its support to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to remind everyone their voice counts.
On International Human Rights Day, pledge your support and join thousands of people around the world and make your voice count by saying something together.
This year’s theme, My Voice Counts, will focus on inclusion and the right to participation in public life.
In just a few years, the Internet has emerged as a major platform for communication and expression, amplifying the voices of more than two billion people across the world.
Designed as an open, decentralized tool that empowers users at a grassroots level, there’s no denying that the Internet transformed our world.
The open and global network offers the potential for greater inclusion in public matters and provides a platform for individuals to influence the decisions that shape their communities.
It has given a voice to the voiceless, pushed the boundaries of human innovation, built new communities, and helped them flourish in a way that was previously unimagined
This year we have a chance to celebrate the Internet as a tool that’s helped enable universal rights such as freedom of opinion and expression, to peaceful assembly and association, and to take part in the conduct of public affairs (articles 19, 20 and 21 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights)
So no matter where you’re from, what your abilities are, or what you believe in – on December 10th remind the world that the Internet can help make your voice count.
