One in three teens will experience some form of abuse from a dating partner, yet three out of four parents have never had a conversation about domestic violence with their children.

This year on February 4, parents across the country are joining forces to start having these critical conversations with their kids for, "NO MORE Silence: It's Time To Talk Day."  An annual conversation day presented by Break the Cycle's Love Is Not Abuse campaign and Mary Kay in partnership with Verizon, It's Time To Talk Day is focused on educating and equipping parents, mentors, youth advocates and others, to start talking to teens about healthy relationships and encouraging them to make this issue a priority year-round.

As February is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, this day will encourage parents to kick-start conversations about healthy dating and give them the tools they need to do so.  Getting involved is simple and every conversation started will make a difference.

Step 1) Visit www.itstimetotalkday.org, and pledge to talk to someone -- be it your own child, a teacher, co-worker or a friend -- about why promoting healthy teen relationships is so vital to the safety, health, and well-being of our children and our communities.

Step 2) Go a step further, and attend or host an It's Time To Talk Day Talk-A-Thon near you.  These dynamic conversation events are equipping parents and advocates to start talking about healthy relationships any anyone can host one using the free tools in the online Talk-A-Thon Guide. Register your event on the It's Time To Talk Day map and find out where other advocates are hosting Talk-A-Thons across the country.  Whether it's in your living room or a school gym, these conversations could help save a life.

Step 3) You can also add your name to the Love Is Not Abuse Coalition, a grassroots army of thousands of advocates across the country who are supporting and promoting healthy relationships in a variety of ways in their own communities.

Break the Cycle's Love Is Not Abuse campaign and Mary Kay will host an It's Time To Talk Day Talk-A-Thon in partnership with Verizon in New York City on February 4.  You can attend this free, public event or participate in NO MORE Silence: It's Time To Talk Day from your own community.

Pledge to talk. Start a conversation and make promoting healthy relationships a priority year-round.
