Working in the Sushi industry we deal with A LOT of fish suppliers. Hence, we try to ensure our environmental policy is always at its highest standards.
At The Sushi Chef we NEVER use Bluefin Tuna.
And we'd like to encourage other catering companies and restaurants to do the same!
WWF have highlighted how 'The Atlantic bluefin is a highly sought-after delicacy for sushi and sashimi in Asia—a single fish has sold for over $1.75 million! Driven by such high prices, fishermen use even more refined techniques to catch tuna. And the fish are disappearing as a result. Although tuna do provide food and livelihoods for people, they are more than just seafood. Tuna are a top predator in the marine food chain, maintaining a balance in the ocean environment.'
Our point is it doesn't need to happen!
Ideally the fishing sector needs better management, but until then we can only hope that campaigns like this one will help bring awareness to food establishments around the world.
So please SUPPORT THIS CAMPAIGN, and help us highlight that there is no need for greed!
