by Paul Coddington category: Health
Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) is a chronic, debilitating, often degenerative neurological disease (WHO ICD-10 G93.3).
ME patients worldwide have suffered misdiagnosis and mistreatment as a result of policies enacted in response to a highly influential, yet scientifically flawed, study that should never have passed peer review.
Patients have been denied disability benefits, health/income insurance and other entitlements due to ME being misrepresented as a psychosomatic disorder for decades.
Reports of physical harms due to recommended "therapies" have been ignored, despite some patients being left permanently bedridden from inappropriate treatments which ignore underlying biomedical pathologies.
We therefore call on all PACE trial authors and supporters to remember the Hippocratic Oath, in essence "Practice two things in your dealings with disease: either help or do not harm the patient".
